Rural Development
Agriculture is the mainstay of the villagers. In an area like Bundelkhand, where most of the land is full of rocks and stones and unirrigated, it is very important that agricultural land be improved upon so the economy of the farmers looks up.
Land development is being done through activities like plantation, bunding and construction of check dams. All these activities lead to retention of water on the land of poor farmers. And water in turn means increased agricultural yields.
As a part of agriculture demonstration activities, 50 farmers have been selected for cultivation of jatropha, and medicinal plants like satawar and ghrit kumari. These farmers have been given demonstration as to how they can prepare manure like Nadep and vermi-compost. They have also been given pheropanars for deep harrowing.
Over 300 farmers have been motivated with jatropha cultivation.
Despite years of drought in Bundelkhand region, effective results are visible in the field. The organisation is confident that once it rains normally, even better results will be obtained.
Deteriorating environment is one of the major causes of the present condition of environment. To arrest the trend, environment awareness camps are organised in the villages at regular intervals. Plantation is also done regularly through shramdan (voluntary contribution of labour).
