Bal Samskar Kendras (translated into English as Children's Centre) are being run for non-school going children in 10 to 14 years age group in 10 villages.

Residential bridge course is also being organised under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. A total of 62 girls were enrolled for this course. Despite intensive efforts as outlined in the following points, only 60 to 70 per cent girls have been retained.

• Counselling of parents at their homes
• Awareness meetings in the villages
• Concurrence of local people of repute and their association with the programme
• Availability of safe building with necessary facilities
• Arrangement of necessary resources
• Increase in games material at the centre
• Permission to children to go back to their homes on Saturdays
• Visit to local tourist spots
• Craft and tailoring classes
• Revised food menu
• Training to the staff to make innovative efforts

As a result of these steps, rate of success has been increased.
